A comparison between plants and animalsIn my opinion I believe plants would have a greater ability to withstand a range of temperatures. Plants have the ability to gain resources in extreme cold and extreme heat. Because animals are generally only made to live in one kind of environment I believe if the temperature was seriously changed they would struggle more as they can feel cold or heat and can become over heated or too cold and possibly die. However plants cannot necessarily feel the cold and still maintain some function if the weather becomes too cold. Plants are do not require to go and get warm at night to stay alive and can generally survive in a wider range of conditions. I believe a plant is more likely to be able to maintain itself if it is challenged for a period of time. Most plants can survive some frost. Plants living in the deserts can survive extreme temperatures during the day and then freezing cold at night. The animals also do this however they hide themselves in either shade or underground to maintain warmth. I believe plants are more likely to be able to survive in a wider range of conditions as compared to animals.

Interesting facts |
-There are over 173 species of Banksia with over 60 being native to Western Australia
-A sugar glider can glide for up to 50 meters using its membrane which connects its pinky to its feet. It also uses its tail as a rudder and can loosen and tighten the skin to change its direction in the air. -The inland taipan is the most venomous snake in the world. |
Why do the two animal species have different adaptions? |
Each animal species the inland Taipan and the Sugar Glider possum have a range of adaptions which are unique to one another. I believe they are both different due to the different environments they live in and the type of animals they are. The taipan has venomous bites in order to help defend itself and kill prey. However the gliding possum does not need this as it is not a carnivore. So instead it has developed a membrane which allows it to travel through the trees without touching the ground and avoid predators. Its abilities are suited to being able to gather nectar and eat small insects. The taipan has long sharp teeth for stabbing prey and injecting poison. The possum doesn't have large canine teeth as it needs to get nectar from flowers. The taipan has its different coloured skin because of its hot environment and benefits from the sun as it is cold blooded. The possum has fur to keep it warm in a more cool environment as it is a mammal. Each animal has a different adaption to suit its particular needs.
